We have always aimed to provide a fair and safe working environment for everyone involved in the supply chain of our charcoal production.
We own our manufacturing plant in South Africa and hold additional stock in the UK for a stress free supply chain.
From timber harvest right through to distribution and UK stock holding, we manage our entire production process.
We offer a wide range of ethically and sutainably produced charcoal for global distribution.
All the timber that goes into making our charcoal is harvested under Namibian National Environmental Laws on tree preservation, done under licence from the government. We are fully compliant with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) sustainability regulations in order to preserve the natural environment and world forestry.
We employ local representatives in Namibia to work with selected farmers to ensure quality of charcoal produced and compliance with local and international standards for labour, environment and sustainability.
Timber is harvested by hand using local workers providing jobs for the community. Workers are provided with all equipment and accommodation during working season.
It is important to us that money from the harvesting of the timber and charcoal production stays in the local economy and everyone benefits from the production of the charcoal.
‘Encroaching Bush’ causes vast
economic and ecological problems if it is not removed as it destroys the nomadic farmlands and seriously inhibits the movement of the vast array of African wildlife found within Namibia.
The timber is then loaded into traditional, portable charcoal kilns to keep fires from spreading in dry conditions.
Once the charcoal burn has taken place the ungraded product is allowed to cool then bagged into sacks for transportation to our production facility.
Charcoal is then processed and graded at our production facility.
Each bag is quality inspected and weighed in accordance to UK Weights and Measures guidelines.
The bagged charcoal is then packed into retail packaging when required.
